Welcome to Mike's Food Lab! Are you ready to make a great Pizza?
The weekend is here and, instead of ordering out, you can make your own awesome pizza that is worth writing home to mama about! In fact, my pizza crust is based on my mom's homemade bread recipe, the only difference being a bit of oil is added to the dough.
Although I have experimented with many variations through the years, this remains the best pizza crust recipe to come out of the lab. You will be missing out on one of life's pleasures if you don't try it.
Making your own pizza from scratch is not as difficult as one might think.
Main Points to Consider
A great pizza starts with a great crust.
Next, it takes a good pizza sauce, whether it be the standard tomato sauce with Italian herbs or a white creamy sauce.
Then, you have to take steps to control the moisture in your toppings so the crust cooks properly and does not become soggy.
Whether it is your first time making pizza or you are a seasoned pro, my detailed recipe contains all the information you need to be successful in your endeavor. Rest assured that the recipe is tried, tested and true. In fact, it's more than just a recipe; it's a short course on how to make pizza, from A to Z.
There is actually not much work involved in making a pizza crust. Most of the time required is spent waiting for the dough to rise. While you wait, you can prepare your toppings.
When you see how easy it is to do it yourself, you will forever be reluctant to order out as your own creation will outshine your local pizzeria. It will be tailored to your liking and you will save a load of cash. My recipe also contains a list of pizza making accessories that are well worth the investment.

Pizza Sauce
Pizza sauce is so easy to make that, once you have tried my recipe, with its wonderful Italian flavors, you might wonder why you would ever buy pre-made sauce again. Putting the ingredients together literally takes only 2-3 minutes and then you let it simmer about 30 minutes. It's fast and fabulous.
